What you'll need to make Chicken Wings in the Air Fryer.
- I enjoy using the Cosori air fryer a lot.
- Favorite Wing Sauce: Being from Louisiana, I enjoy using either Tabasco or Louisiana Hot Sauce with a basic hot wing sauce.
- Other options include olive oil, silicone pads, and nonstick frying spray.
Ingredients
This basic dish calls for only a few ingredients. Here are the major items you'll need:
- Cut 12 entire chicken wings into 24 pieces.
- Make your own sauce using cayenne pepper, butter, and spicy sauce.
- Garlic powder enhances the flavor of the wings.
- Coat with olive oil before seasoning.
- Baking powder creates an additional crispy skin on the completed hot wings.
- Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
How to Make Chicken Wings in Air Fryer
- Step 1: To make 24 wings, cut the wings into pieces.
- Step 2: Set the air fryer's temperature for three minutes at 380°F/193°C. After preheating, prepare the air fryer basket if necessary.
- Step 3: Put the wings in a big basin with baking powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and olive oil. Stir thoroughly.
- Step 4: Arrange the seasoned wings in a single layer within the air fryer basket.
- Step 5: Air fry the wings for 20 minutes at 380°F/193°C, turning them every 5 minutes. For more crispy skin, raise the heat to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and cook for another 2 minutes. Make sure the interior temperature is 165 degrees Fahrenheit by using a digital meat thermometer.
- Step 6: Gently take the wings out of the air fryer, mix in your preferred sauce, and serve with your preferred sides.
NOTE: The Cosori Air Fryer was used to make this dish. You might need to modify the cooking time if you're using a different type of air fryer. Larger wings will take longer to cook than smaller ones.
With only a few basic ingredients, these are the greatest chicken wings you'll ever make in an air fryer.
Pro Tips
- Pat dry: Before beginning, pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels.
- Make them crispy: Adding a small amount of baking powder to the mixture is another way to get crispy wings in the air fryer. Crispy skin is aided by baking powder.
- One layer: To ensure consistent cooking and crispy skin, keep the wings in a single layer with some space between them.
- Toss: For uniform cooking and crispiness, toss the wings every three to five minutes.
- Raise the heat: The final few minutes of cooking are what give you the crispy skin and extra juicy chicken. The secret to juicy, crispy wings is to cook them at 380 degrees Fahrenheit for the most of the cooking time and then raise the temperature to 400 degrees for the final few minutes!
Variations of Chicken Wing Flavors
- Dipping Sauce: Vary your dipping sauce's flavors. Blue Cheese, Ranch, and Buffalo are well-known.
- Use a variety of wing sauce flavors, such as Buffalo, Honey Garlic, Honey Mustard, or Barbecue.
- Seasonings: While the wings are frying, add various seasonings, such as Old Bay, Jamaican Jerk, Sriracha, Lemon Pepper, and Chipotle.
FAQs
Any leftovers can be kept in the fridge for up to three days in an airtight container. To reheat the wings, put them in the air fryer that has been warmed and cook them for two minutes, or until they are well heated, at 380 degrees Fahrenheit. Wings are best consumed the day they are prepared.
Ranch dressing is my preferred dipping sauce, but you can also serve these with blue cheese dressing or barbecue sauce.
If you want to alter the flavors, you may also apply more spices and a dry rub.
I adore serving small cheese puffs, jalapeño poppers, potato skins, fresh celery sticks, mozzarella sticks, and carrot sticks.
Frozen chicken wings must be cooked for 23 to 25 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit in an air fryer. After the first few minutes, make careful to check and break apart the wings, and then continue cooking, flipping them as necessary.
This recipe is incredibly simple and consistently produces the greatest wings.
