Why I Love This Recipe
Allow me to explain why this delectable sauce recipe has gained a permanent home in my heart and grown to become one of my favorite sauce recipes:
- So tasty! I adore how the onions, sriracha garlic, and sweet chili sauce combine to produce a sweet and spicy combination.
- Adaptable. In addition to being a great dipping sauce for shrimp tacos, sweet potato fries, and french fries, this homemade sauce can also be used as a salad dressing to add even more flavor. Tossing this spicy sauce with fried fish is one of my favorite uses for it. For a crispy, sweet and spicy boom boon shrimp meal, I prefer to add it to tempura shrimp.
- Simple to make. Did I mention that whipping up just takes five minutes? When you're in a hurry and need a tasty sauce, this is the ideal answer.
Main Ingredients
This boom-boom sauce is made up of only a few basic components. The top players are as follows:
- Mayo. gives this creamy sauce its foundation. If you want to make this lower in calories, feel free to use low-fat mayonnaise.
- Sweet chili sauce. adds a touch of spice along with a sweet and tart flavor.
- Sriracha sauce. adds the distinctively fiery kick to the sauce.
- Ketchup. adds a little acidity and sweetness.
- Onion powder with garlic powder. for the delicious, garlicky undertone.
- Black pepper, cayenne, and salt. to give flavor depth and seasoning.
How To Make Boom-Boom Sauce
This dipping sauce only takes five minutes to prepare and couldn't be simpler! To make this tasty sauce, follow these steps:
- Mix everything together. Mayo, sweet chili sauce, sriracha sauce, ketchup, onion and garlic powders, salt, cayenne pepper, and black pepper should all be combined in a small bowl.
- Combine. Using a spoon, thoroughly combine all the ingredients until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Make adjustments. To suit your tastes, taste and adjust the seasonings.
- Store or serve. Serve right away or store the sauce in the refrigerator until you're ready to use it.
Variations And Substitutions
This sauce tastes fantastic just the way it is, but if you want to change it up a bit, try these variants.
- Turn it into a vegan meal. Use vegan mayonnaise in place of regular mayo for a vegan version.
- Put some mustard on it. To add even more flavor, add a teaspoon of Dijon mustard.
- Make it sweeter. Pour in some honey or maple syrup for a sweeter version.
- Modify the level of spice. Even with the sriracha, this sauce is actually quite mild. By adding various hot sauces and varying the amount of spiciness to your preferred degree, you can experiment with the heat level.
Frequently Asked Questions
Although this sauce has a tiny touch of spice, it is actually rather moderate, and the sweetness of the ketchup and sweet chili sauce beautifully counterbalances the spicy sriracha. To give it a softer flavor if you're not a big fan of spicy food, consider using less sriracha sauce or even increasing the quantity of mayo you use.
Of course! In fact, this sauce tastes better after the flavors have had chance to combine. Just be sure to keep it in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
Add some hot sauce to the mixture if you want it a little spicy. To add a little extra sriracha, you can also change the proportions of ketchup and sweet chili sauce.
The remaining sauce can be kept in the fridge in an airtight container.
